Pitch and Wait. The Art of Patience (and networking while waiting).

Almost 2 weeks since my first pitch with a UK company, 1 week since my first attempt to promote an artefact. The agreement in both case was clear, something like '... let's meet up again in January, and continue the conversation'. Nonetheless, I feel sort of anxious and ... lonely. What I mean is that I got the ideas, developed the projects, presented the outlines without substantial supports from fellow professionals. It may appear that I am doing more than fine, but I know that going out there without a decently strong network is almost a professional suicide.

So, I started to send some emails asking for advice and contacts: I have been lucky with the advice, less with the contacts. I now have books/papers to read and templates to adapt, but no one seemed so keen to jump on my ventures.

I suppose I'm not using the appropriate channels and media; I still haven't 'exploited' my informal links with fellow students from other CSM MA, or my acquittances in the Reading cultural scene. I believe that a good way to promote my ventures and ask for practical help (i.e. curating, selecting artworks) is creating as much valued propositions as the type of professional I want to involve. And pitch them too, as they were clients. Let's start right now; I have tons to do.
