Ben Mosher

Bio

Ben Mosher is an interdisciplinary artist from Nova Scotia Canada, who now resides in Halifax. Growing up in the small close-knit community of Canaan in rural Nova Scotia then moving through much larger and unique communities created tension of place and identity. These experiences formed an interest in duality and of memory which has embedded itself in their often poetic, object and text-based works. Tying these concepts of a narrative of place and of object together Mosher hopes to create a sense of discovery, akin to one has been growing up in an ever-changing landscape.

Ben for MG

Signal (Blue Red Yellow) is a looping video piece displaying and accentuating the folly that comes with our blind faith in our own personal biases. Two lights become placeholders for opposing parties in our society, these infallible machines continuously contradict and argue with each other through morse code.

With felt disparities between people being stronger I believe we have a need for togetherness and shared experience. We have no time for talk highlighting differences between anyone of us, through the depiction of a simple and irrational disagreement it is my I hope that people are united by its folly.
